The main line of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Liuheng Highway Bridge Phase I Project has been completed. The 10.8-kilometer bridge will also be officially opened to traffic in the first half of this year. By then, it will end Meishan's history of no highway access.
From Meishan Interchange to Chaiqiao Hub, since the construction of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Liuheng Highway Bridge Phase I Project was started in November 2022, the builders have continuously refreshed the "progress bar" of the project, and pressed the "fast-forward key" to realize the connection of the whole line.

Innovation is the secret to the speed-up of the bridge. In order to promote the “high speed” construction of the project, new technologies, new processes and new equipment have been launched in succession.
“In order to speed up the construction progress, we use the water mill drill wire to saw and cut the guardrail, which can improve the efficiency by at least 25%. One machine can cut 30 meters originally, but now it can cut at least 40 meters, which can save nearly half a month and effectively speed up the construction progress.” said Lu Song.
It is reported that in April this year, the first phase of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Liuheng Highway Bridge will complete all asphalt paving and smooth handover to ensure that the first half of this year can be realized to open to traffic.
As one of the important port-draining roads in “the 13th Five-Year Plan” for comprehensive transportation development of Zhejiang Province, after the completion of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Liuheng Highway Bridge, it can realize the linkage development of the ports and industries of Liuheng Island, Fodu Island and Meishan Island, and promote the integration of Yongzhou and Boat into the development of “fast channel”, which is of great significance for promoting regional economic development and strengthening maritime traffic connection.
After the completion of the first phase of the project, the history that Meishan is not connected to the expressway will be ended, and the second phase of the project will connect Liuheng Island in Zhoushan and Meishan Island in Ningbo.
