Recently, Ningbo Customs seized more than 2400 pieces of animal fur products such as python skin.
During the inspection of a batch of non-endangered tanned coyote skins, non-endangered tanned snake skins and other goods declared for import by a trading company, the inspectors of Beilun Customs under Ningbo Customs found that there were a large number of undeclared other animal products in the goods.
After identification by professional organizations, the python skin and the seed coat of the giant lizard found in the freight channel belong to the fur products of endangered wild animals. The case is a case in which Ningbo Customs has seized the largest amount of products of python and giant lizard in the freight channel in recent years, involving the management of endangered wild animals and plants.
"After our analysis, the goods declared as animal fur products. In combination with the information of country, route, declaration content and business unit, it is unanimously judged that the risk of the fake declaration name evading the management of endangered wild animals and plants is relatively high." Ningbo customs belong to the Beilun Customs office in the third division of the inspection customs inspector Liu Yang introduced, the site manual inspection found that the whole goods by black opaque plastic film wrapped carton packaging, no shipping marks on the packaging, the upper carton for wolf skin, snake skin, after the expansion of the entire package, found a large number of undeclared giant lizard skin and other goods, and some snake skin specifications are larger, with diamond-shaped reticulated skin texture, have python products suspected. In view of that all pieces of python, giant lizard are listed in "the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora" (CITES) appendix. After comprehensive research and judgment on the site, samples were taken for inspection immediately.
Among the above-mentioned goods, there are 17 pieces of Asian rock python skins, which are endangered animal products in Appendix I of "the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora" (CITES); the other 189 pieces of python skin and 2,241 pieces of giant lizard species are endangered animal products in Appendix II.
"After the on-site investigation, we rely on the integrated risk prevention and control mechanism of Beilun Customs to carry out risk investigation and follow-up treatment and intervene in advance to keep the national security." Li Lizhi, head of the third section of inspection at the Ningbo customs belong to the Beilun Customs office, introduced that according to the provisions of "the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora" and the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Wildlife", it is prohibited to trade, carry and mail endangered species and products into or out of the country in addition to legally holding the "Import and Export Permit" and handling the customs formalities.
