Ningbo Zhoushan Port's Introduces New Model Automobile Ship-Sharing Mode

Yesterday afternoon, under the full supervision of MeiShan Customs officers affiliated with Ningbo Customs, wharf workers transported 219 commercial vehicles waiting for Ship-Sharing RoRo shipment from the parking lot to the MeiXi RoRo Terminal at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. The vehicles were then sequentially loaded onto the “Yongxin 128” RoRo ship. This ship is scheduled to depart Ningbo-Zhoushan Port MeiXi RoRo Terminal that evening, marking the successful commencement of Zhejiang Province's first international vehicle transshipment by RoRo method.

It is understood that this batch of 219 commodity vehicles in September 4, by the “Fuyun No. 1” RoRo ship from Japan Osaka Port. After Ningbo a short stop in Zhoushan Port Meixi RoRo terminal, they will be transferred for export overseas.

In order to guarantee the smooth operation of this new RoRo business, Meishan Customs affiliated with Ningbo Customs shall make relevant preparations in advance, formulate supervision process, guide enterprises to reasonably arrange transportation plan, report for record in advance, and coordinate connecting the first voyage and the second voyage, so as to promote the smooth operation of relevant business.

“This international transshipment business of commodity vehicles will enhance the agglomeration effect of Ningbo internationalized automobile supply, attract foreign trade RoRo ship, and promote the development of automobile export business.” said Cao Wenqing, deputy Director of the First Logistics Monitoring Division of Meishan Customs affiliated with Ningbo Customs.

As the only specialized RoRo terminal in Zhejiang Province, the business volume of Meixi’s RoRo terminal has doubled in recent years. The international automobile transshipment business is a beneficial attempt for Ningbo Customs to further expand the customs supervision service mode and promote the local economic development. From the “one-stop” supervision on the export of new energy vehicles to the support of the new export mode of “Stacking Game”, Ningbo Customs has always kept a close eye on the development of new quality productive forces, innovated and made breakthroughs, and provided practical measures to support the export of automobiles. Supported by Ningbo Customs’ series of innovative measures, Meixi RoRo Terminal has exported 55,200 vehicles so far this year, a 41.63% increase year-on-year, injecting strong momentum into China's automobile export development.
