On the evening of August 27th, a long-awaited heavy rainfall hit Beilun, ending the 45-day high temperature weather in our region, and the high temperature and meteorological drought were effectively alleviated. “From the evening of August 27th to the middle of the night, thunderstorms occurred from west to east in our district. Except for Guoju Sub-district, the rainfall generally reached the level of heavy rain. The total rainfall during this period was 53 mm, with Weidou Community Station in Qijiashan Sub-district recording 95 mm, Paotaishan Station 93 mm, Yishan Village Station in Xiaogang Sub-district 93 mm, and Yangjiashan Station in Meishan Sub-district 89 mm,” said a staff member from the District Meteorological Observatory.

It is reported that since June this year, the number of high-temperature days above 35°C in our district has reached 45, breaking the historical record of 44 high-temperature days in the same period in 2022. Especially since August this year, the whole district has been experiencing continuous high temperatures, and at the same time, the precipitation was abnormally low, with the precipitation being less than 2mm, a historical extreme.

“The cooling is only temporary. It is expected that starting from August 31st, the subtropical high will strengthen again, and the strong convective weather will increase in the afternoon, so that Beilun will usher in high temperature weather above 35℃ once more.” said a staff member of the District Meteorological Observatory.
