On the afternoon of December 1, the two-day 2024 National Bocce League Finals (Ningbo Station) came to a close at the Meishan Bay Lianhu Bocce Sports Park. After intense competition, nearly 60 athletes from 11 teams determined the champions in both the youth and adult categories.
In recent years, bocce has emerged as a new sport that combines entertainment, competition, and mental-physical integrate engagement. It is suitable for both young people and the middle-aged and elderly, gradually becoming a popular and elegant competitive sport as well as a fashionable leisure fitness activity. The sport has a promising future and is currently listed as a competition event in the 14th National Games and the 2025 Chengdu World Games.
In the 2024 National Bocce Club League is modeled after the Chengdu World Games, featuring two competition events: large metal bocce and small metal bocce. The events are contested in various formats, including men's and women's individual continuous throws, mixed doubles continuous throws, as well as men's and women's accuracy throws, and mixed doubles events.
The finals are divided into two categories: the adult group and the youth group. The youngest athlete in the adult group was 18 years old, while the oldest was 72. In the youth group, the youngest athlete was 9 years old, and the oldest was 17.
In April this year, the first stage of the National Bocce Club League began in Xinxiang, Henan Province. After fierce competition in four stations, the top eight athletes in each group and each event based on overall points earned the right to participate in this year's finals.
