On January 4th, under the service guarantee of the maritime department, the refueling ship "Offshore Oil 302" vessel began to refuel about 10000 cubic meters of LNG (liquefied natural gas) for the "MSC ADYA" vessel.

At 10:30 am, in the Chuanshan Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, the "Offshore Oil 302" vessel slowly approached the "MSC ADYA" vessel, which was loading and unloading containers at the dock. The crew members carried out mooring operations in an orderly and standardized manner. Then, they start the commissioning before refueling.

It is reported that this refueling adopts the full process bonded LNG refueling operation mode of "reverse transportation within the port, refueling within the port". That is firstly, through the Zhejiang LNG terminal located in Chuanshan Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, the reverse transportation operation for "Ocean Oil 302" will be provided in a "tank to ship" manner. Then, it will be moved to Chuanshan Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, and "Ocean Oil 302" will refuel the international ship "MSC ADYA" vessel through a "ship to ship" manner.

“The simultaneous operation of dock operations and refueling operations greatly improves the efficiency of port operations and the utilization rate of ship berthing. This refueling is also our first LNG refueling in the new year, "said Zhang Guanghao, Deputy Manager of the Field Department of China Ocean Shipping Agency Ningbo Co., Ltd.

Compared with traditional marine fuels, liquefied natural gas, as a ship's power fuel, can achieve the goals of zero sulfur oxide emissions, 85% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions, and 25% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. It can reduce fuel costs by about 30% annually, with both environmental and economic benefits, It can reduce fuel costs by about 30% annually, with both environmental and economic benefits, especially suitable for international ocean going large ships.

To ensure the smooth operation of the bonded LNG refueling business, the Ningbo Chuanshan Maritime Safety Administration and other port authorities have coordinated in advance to provide full process support services for ship refueling, including ship entry and exit escort, berthing and departure supervision, and refueling operation inspection.

It is reported that in the context of global greenhouse gas emissions reduction and the implementation of China's "Dual Carbon" strategy, LNG fuel has gradually become an important option for large international shipping ships due to its high economic benefits and good emission reduction effects.

In 2025, Chuanshan Port Area is expected to carry out 40 LNG refueling operations, and complete 200000 cubic meters of LNG refueling for ships, which is equivalent to reducing 78000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This is of great significance for the green and low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry and the construction of Ningbo Zhoushan Port as a first-class strong port.
