The Sales Revenue Generated by Bulgarian Roses Reaches Tens of Millions of Yuan Annually
Updated: 2024-04-08

“Bulgaria, owing to its distinctive geographic location and climatic conditions, has emerged as the premier destination for cultivating top-grade oil-bearing roses, earning the esteemed moniker of ‘Rose Country.’ Our rose products are exclusively sourced from Bulgaria.”

Recently, a journalist ventured into the Rose Pavilion nestled within the Central and Eastern Europe Year-round Hall at the Ningbo International Conference & Exhibition Center, immediately greeted by the delicate aroma of roses.

Within the pavilion, an array of Bulgarian rose products was showcased, encompassing creams, essences, hand creams, and more. Meanwhile, Chen Yi, the General Manager of Ningbo Dijiavida Trading Co., Ltd., meticulously arranged the shelves of rose products while enlightening consumers about the rich rose culture prevalent in Central and Eastern European nations.

In 2013, Ningbo Dijiavida Trading Co., Ltd. has established its presence in the Ningbo Free Trade Zone and become an integral part of the Central and Eastern Europe Year-round Hall at the Ningbo Imported Commodity Center. Specializing in the importation of alcoholic beverages, food, daily essentials, and cosmetics, our offerings hail from countries such as Spain, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria.

“Central and Eastern European nations boast exceptional agricultural and ancillary product resources,” Chen Yi informed reporters, highlighting her firm’s representation of numerous brands from these regions.

As Chinese consumers increasingly appreciate products originating from Central and Eastern Europe, Chen Yi has noticed a growing demand not only for agricultural and ancillary products but also for high-quality skincare and daily chemical items. This trend stems from the superior quality of ingredients, which resonate well with Chinese consumers.

“During our frequent business trips to Central and Eastern European countries, we often bring back batches of souvenirs to share with friends,” she explained. “These souvenirs include a variety of beauty and cosmetic products such as facial creams and hand lotions. Interestingly, after our friends use them for a while, they promptly approach us seeking to purchase more,” she added, recognizing the market potential. After thorough research, Chen Yi identified that Bulgaria’s Damascus roses can yield premium derivative products. Considering all factors, she resolved to introduce them to the Chinese market.

Since 2018, Chen Yi has served as the exclusive distributor of Bulgaria’s Biofresh rose series products in China, comprising hand creams, face creams, toners, and more. “As a woman, my affinity for roses greatly influenced my decision to represent the Biofresh rose series products,” she expressed.

Today, these products have become her flagship offerings, boasting over 100 varieties “thriving across” more than 20 provinces and cities, including Zhejiang, Sichuan, Shanghai, and Beijing.

“Last year, sales of the Biofresh rose series products surpassed ten million yuan, with import and sales volumes doubling annually since I assumed the distributorship in 2018,” she remarked. In recent years, with governmental backing, Chen Yi’s company has also showcased the Biofresh rose series products to a wider consumer audience through various national-level exhibitions such as the Central and Eastern Europe Expo and the Import Expo.
