The press conference was held yesterday afternoon for the 19th Asian Games torch relay in Ningbo, introducing the details of the preparation for torch relay event.
At the press conference, Deputy Director Chen Yin of the Propaganda Department of the Ningbo Municipal Committee introduced the overall arrangement for the the 19th Asian Games Torch Relay in Ningbo, which is scheduled to take place at 9:00 AM on September 12 at Meishan, Beilun District.
Themed by “Costal City Ningbo, Sail the World”, the route of the torch, the route is 12.7 kilometers in length, starting from the China Port Museum, along with Meishan Bay Beach Park, Meishan Bay Dam, Meishan Bay Hiking Trail, Geely Automobile Meishan Manufacturing Base, Meishan Comprehensive Bonded Zone, and concluding at the Meishan Port Container Terminal of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port.
This torch relay features 170 torchbearers who represent various sectors and outstanding figures. They will relay the torch, symbolizing the passing of the flame, to showcase Ningbo's positive image as a famous cultural city, international port city, a city of innovation and manufacturing, a city of Olympic champions, and a city of national civilization. Among them, more than ten representatives from Beilun will participate in this torch relay. These torchbearers include 'Great Craftsmen of the Nation,' such as Zhu Shijie, chief of the bridge crane team at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, Shi Mengyan secretary of grassroots branch and Chen Junhao, the most beautiful volunteer in China.
After multiple on-site surveys and extensive consultations, Ningbo Beilun, the starting point of the 'Maritime Silk Road' and one of the regions in Zhejiang Province with the earliest and highest degree of openness, as well as the most concentrated national-level functional areas, was selected as the torch relay area. Through the torch relay, it will showcase the unique charm of Ningbo as a modern coastal metropolis. The main visual elements of the torch relay's starting and closing ceremonies in Ningbo highlight the distinctive characteristics of its coastal area, creating a visual synergy between “setting sail” and “setting off on a journey”.
The starting ceremony stage is set at the China Port Museum, with the central design concept revolving around a 'ship,' harmonizing with the overall architectural aesthetics of the museum. When viewed from above, it resembles a massive vessel ready to set sail. In contrast, the closing ceremony stage features a 300-meter fully-loaded giant wheel as its backdrop, incorporating elements of scrolls and reels as the primary design, showcasing Ningbo's urban character of 'preserving ancient and modern knowledge while connecting the world through its port.' With the tides surging in the east and the torch being passed down through generations, Ningbo by the seaside is setting sail for the Asian Games. We eagerly anticipate the magnificent torch relay in Ningbo.
