Recently, as the "Changhuang" ship successfully completed the loading and unloading of 9331 TEUs at Berth 7, Meishan Bonded Port Area, Zhoushan Port, Ningbo, the container throughput of the port area this year has reached 9.009 million TEUs, and the annual container volume has exceeded 9 million for the first time since the port was opened.
On December 13, Phase III of No. 6 to No. 10 Container Terminal Project of Meishan Bonded Port Area (hereinafter referred to as Meishan Phase II Project) successfully passed the completion acceptance, marking that the Phase II Meishan Project smoothly passed the completion acceptance. At present, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has become the only port with double "ten million containers" single container terminal in the world.
The milestone-type breakthroughs in succession have undoubtedly sounded the trumpet for the construction of Ningbo Zhoushan Port into a world-class and powerful port. As a significant gateway to China's foreign trade and the world's largest port in terms of cargo throughput for 14 consecutive years, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has paid close attention to Zhejiang Province's World-class Strong Port Cconstruction Project Implementation Plan since the beginning of this year, boosting the construction of port and shipping infrastructure, and creating a world-class container berth group. Currently, it possesses two "ten million container" single container terminals located in Chuanshan Port and Meishan Port, providing "hardcore" support for serving national strategies, regional economy, and global customers.
Meishan Phase II Project is the container terminal with the highest design level in China at present, including two 200,000-ton container berths and three 150,000-ton container berths (the hydraulic structure is designed to berth 200,000-ton container ships) and corresponding supporting facilities. The designed annual throughput capacity is 4.3 million standard units, the shoreline length is 2,150 meters, possessing the largest container ship berthing conditions in the world. The project is connected with berths No. 1 to No. 5 in the completed Meishan Bonded Port Area, forming a cluster of berths with a total shoreline length of 3,950 meters and an annual throughput capacity of 10 million TEUs.
Since the beginning of this year, Meishan Bonded Port Area attaches importance to the construction goal of "ten million container level single container terminal", adheres to the development mainline of "improving quality and efficiency", and takes multiple measures to boost the construction of smart terminals, continuously gathering new driving forces and advantages for high-quality development. All the 50 bridge cranes and 175 gantry cranes planned to be configured in the port area will be put into operation this year, forming the largest remote control automation equipment cluster of “36 remote control bridge+110 remote gantry cranes” in the world, laying the foundation for the steady growth of container throughput. From 20 o’clock on December 12 to 20 o’clock on December 13, the number of day and night single shift operation routes in the port area has reached 44 routes for the first time, with the single work shift workload exceeding 20,000 standard containers and the day and night operation exceeding 40,000 standard containers, all of which have broken the record since the port was opened, and kicked off the “stable, accurate and practical” “immediate foot” for the realization of “9 million”.(Reporter Lu Yongxin, correspondent Yang Jiangqi and Ling Min)
