Recently, the national cross-border e-commerce research base (Ningbo) settled in Beilun.

The research base is jointly established by Ningbo Market Supervision Bureau, Ningbo Beilun District People’s Government and China Industrial and Commercial Press, with the academic support from Peking University E-commerce Law Research Center, which is based on the exploration and practice of Ningbo cross-border e-commerce supervision and service, and provides a “experimental field” for further promoting the development of cross-border e-commerce.

In recent years, Beilun has given full play to the advantages of port location and special functional area, actively explored, cultivated and promoted the development of cross-border import e-commerce industry, introduced a number of domestic leading e-commerce companies such as Tmall International, Jingdong, Pinduoduo and other domestic leading e-commerce, cultivated Ningbo local famous e-commerce companies such as NXUBAY, Zhengzheng E-commerce, and Mogu Science and Technology, developed new marketing and new retailing in combination with the transformation of import commodity market, built the Ningbo import commodity market supply platform, and based on this, provided supply docking for sales channels, and formed an online and offline platform linkage operation system.

In the “Double Eleven (November 11)” e-commerce promotion in 2023, Beilun’s cross-border online shopping bonded imports exceeded RMB 3.2 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 7%, ranking the first in China. According to the reports, since the cross-border import E-commerce pilot was launched in 2013, by the end of 2022, Ningbo's cross-border import sales have exceeded 100 billion yuan, of which Beilun District accounted for 81.7% of the whole city; for the sixth consecutive year, it has won the single regional championship of national cross-border e-commerce online purchase bonded import business.

“In recent years, Beilun has continuously strengthened cross-border quality supervision, improved and standardized cross-border credit system, established and improved consumer rights protection mechanism, optimized cross-border import business environment, and has been committed to building the optimal ecological circle for cross-border e-commerce development. In the future, Beilun will further improve the service support system, deepen the institutional innovation, expand the development mode, and vigorously improve the energy level of cross-border e-commerce.” The relevant person in charge of the regional market supervision administration said.
