Updated: 2022-06-15

At 8:45 on June 10, with the strong support of relevant provincial and municipal departments and Port units, Ningbo Ocean Yongzhou Feeder Container Ship "Union 50" was successfully docked and unloaded at Container Berth No. 9, Meishan Port Area, Ningbo Zhoushan Port, marking that the berth was put into trial operation.

It is reported that Container Terminal No.6 to 10 in Meishan Port Area, as the container terminal with the highest grade currently under construction in China, is one of the important projects in the core area of Ningbo BRI construction comprehensive test zone, and serves to transfer and transport domestic and foreign trade materials of Zhejiang Province and the Yangtze River Delta as well as along the Yangtze River. Among them, the berth No. 9 is 412.5m of length, 59m of width and 17.1m of water depth, with the designed docked container ship grade of 150,000-ton (the hydraulic structure is designed for docking 200,000-ton bulk-cargo ships), and it passed the completion acceptance on April 22 of this year.

According to statistics, last year saw a container throughput of more than 6.6 million standard containers in Meishan Port Area, which contributed nearly one fifth to the total throughput of Ningbo Zhoushan Port. In May this year, it completed over 811 thousand standard containers accumulatively with a year-on-year growth of 31.1%, creating the highest single-month throughput since Port opening.

The operation of the berth No.9 will further strengthen the overall container operation capacity of Meishan Port Area, reduce the waiting time of domestic navigation ships and lay a foundation for subsequent berth of international navigation ships. In addition, it will provide strong support for economic and social development under complex global climate with waves of epidemics and unsmooth supply chain, maximize the regional advantages of Meishan Free Trade Zone, and help Meishan Port Area to become the second “ten-million-container level” single container terminal in Ningbo Zhoushan Port as soon as possible.
