Recently, many residents found that several under-bridge spaces in Chaiqiao Subdistrict altered new dresses, turned into a sports ground, or a park for relax, which is appreciated by residents.

It is understood that the Chaiqiao Subdistrict adopts the mode named "managing by using". In other words, the city management project is transformed into resident-benefit project through the large-scale planning and transformation of the under-bridge spaces. Integrated with urban functional facilities, places are planned to be parking lots, basketball courts, leisure parks and other areas according to the different functional requirements.

Since the beginning of this year, the under-bridge spaces of Chuanshan Highway for Port (Section between the Chuanxian Highway and the Mengguang Road) were transformed holistically by Chaiqiao Subdistrict. The project runs east to the Chuanxian Highway and west to the Mengguang Road, with a length of about 155 meters and a total construction area of about 5,500 square meters. After the transformation, "under-bridge space" turned into two basketball courts, a goal ball court and a foot court, equipped with infrastructures like parking lots and public toilets. With "sports atmosphere, sports paradise" as the theme, places with mixed functions, including fitness, sports, leisure and communication, were built to meet further cultural needs of residents and improve their happiness index.

"It's great to stroll here. My son likes playing basketball. With such a big basketball court, it will be his best to choice to play with friends after it's all done." At dust, Auntie Bei, a resident who lives nearby, surprisingly found when passing by the Chuanshan Highway for Port that there is a hidden but beautiful spot: a well-equipped basketball court and a spacious parking lot, which are the same as the stadium in the urban area.

In order to maximize the utilization of the under-bridge space, Chaiqiao Subdistrict have sought for the solutions for many years. The approach they find is to turn the under-bridge space into places for leisure and entertainment. "The under-bridge space of the Chuanshan Highway for Port will be fully in place at the end of this year." said Jin Renjie, director of the Working Committee of Chaiqiao People's Congress. Furthermore, the People's Congress will keep paying attention to the comprehensive improvement and utilization of under-bridge space. Deputies to People's Congress will play our role to cooperate with various units, so as to innovate new ways to utilize the space based on the environmental improvement, establishing a series of under-bridge landscapes with special features and transforming the spaces to good places for residents' activities.
