Ningbo Development Zone Central Hospital is a comprehensive, non-profit hospital that integrates medical treatment, prevention and health care all in one. Entitled as the "Designated Hospital for Taiwanese Patients" and "Designated Hospital for Foreign Businessmen", the hospital has its shares controlled by Ningbo Health BioMed Co., Ltd. It became the only hospital in the district to be awarded the AAAA social organization by Beilun District Civil Affairs Bureau.
Covering an area of 32,091 m2, the hospital features 550 open beds, and nearly 600 employees, with 79 senior medical care experts, 2 holding a PhD degree or above and 15 having a master's degree. As the district continues to open up, more and more foreigners have come to work and settle in Beilun. To ease their difficulties in seeking medical assistance, the hospital specially set up the foreign clinic (renamed the International Medical Treatment Center later) in 2006 to constantly facilitate treatment for patients coming from around the globe.
